LFI3 and backspin

Not a lot of time to post...but, I actually did a few LFI3s last night! yaay!!! These have been so hard for me. The right side should come along soon. My forward spins are really inconsistent. I tried spinning on my right foot for a change and realized I was doing backspins! They felt really comfortable too. Not centered though. I thought backspins are supposed to be harder....I don't get it.

Is it possible you were spinning on the wrong foot to begin with? I don't remember if you are CW or CCW skater.

Me too, I used to think back spins were hard, period. Then I met a skater at Rockefeller Rink who looked liked she was born doing backspins - and who could not for the life of her, do forward spins. I was pretty amazed at her ability (or inability?) I'm working on my backspin too and I am repeatedly told by my coach "I know it's hard, but stand up straight with you chin UP." Hope this helps! http://www.Lifeskate.com.

I am a CCW skater. Is it possible to feel comfortable jumping CCW and spinning CW?

Maybe it's a blade thing too. Ever since they were sharpened weeks ago, I have had troubles with spins.

I've actually had this discussion with a Rockefeller Center coach, about doing one thing CCW and doing something else CW. If skating is a recreational hobby for self-enjoyment, then by all means, do what feels and IS technically right, whichever direction you do it in. However, when you put a program together, the 2 opposite directions make the program look horribly uneven and disjointed. No fun for the judges or audience. Now that's just one person's opinion, so who knows???
